Program Overview

The UCEAP Language and Culture Program in Florence focuses on the intensive study of the Italian language at all levels, paired with courses in art history, sociology, history, cinema, literature and food culture with a specific focus on the city of Florence.

By the end of the semester program (Fall and Spring) students complete three subsequent intensive Italian language courses.

Students enrolled in the Summer and Winter quarter programs complete two subsequent levels of Italian.

Courses

In addition to the intensive language courses, both semester and quarter students are enrolled in an upper division culture course taught in English by Italian and international faculty.

Language courses as well as culture courses include frequent site visits and make use of the wealth of resources available in Florence and its surrounding area.

For additional opportunities in culture and language immersion, students are encouraged to take advantage of personalized language tutoring, volunteering within the community, social and cultural activities and language exchanges with locals.
